Welcome to our website, and thank you for visiting!
If you are reading this then you are currently making use of a technological tool, a computer, for the purpose of obtaining information in order to learn something. In other words, you are using technology to educate yourself.
This is likely something you do every day of your life, for both technology and education have never been more prevalent than they are in today’s society, and technology has permeated our education system to such an extent that the two appear inextricably linked together.
The purpose of this project is to examine the effectiveness of technology as an educational tool, and our goal is to answer the following question:
Does the use of technology in schools really improve education?

Due to the breadth of this subject (both technology and education have existed since humankind’s earliest days) we have focused much of our research on the use of technology in elementary and secondary schools within Canada (K-12), and specifically the use of computers and other electronic devices, including digital resources.
The results of our research and analysis are presented in the following categories which can be found amongst the various pages of our website:
- The historical development of the use of technology within educational institutions
- Key Terminology that is used throughout our website
- Statistics and Legislation relating to the use of technology in secondary schools within Canada
- The advantages and disadvantages of using of technology as an educational tool
- A group conclusion based on the statistical evidence we have uncovered
- Individual conclusions from each group member, based on our own personal opinions
- Resources, including where to go for further information.
- References, including texts we consulted during our research.
